What Lagos Games Week 2026 Put on the Table for Nigeria's Games Industry

Lagos Games Week returned on 18-19 June 2026 with a programme built around a central question: how does Nigeria turn creative gaming talent into a stronger, connected industry? The published schedule brought developers, creators, esports operators, ecosystem partners and youth-focused organisations into the same conversation.

The first day featured the Nigerian Games Industry Mixer at Maliyo Studios. The main programme at the National Theatre then covered career pathways, game business growth, storytelling, creator income, esports, women in games and lessons from earlier Pitch Stage winners.

Nigeria's esports ecosystem had a visible place in the programme. GameEvo founder Kunmi Adenipebi joined a future-of-esports panel, while another session examined how competitive players build influence beyond tournaments. GameEvo also curated a player-and-creator discussion, and organisations including Gamr appeared among the event's industry partners.

The event also made room for development and immersive media. The programme included the Pitch Stage finals, an indie game showcase, a game jam track and a screening focused on Africa's animation, visual effects, games and XR industry. That mix matters because Nigeria's gaming economy will not grow through tournaments alone; it needs studios, training, publishing, payments, community and investable products.

The useful follow-up is measurable. Organisers and partners should publish confirmed winners, participating studios, deal or mentorship outcomes and the next application dates. Until a primary result page is available, NairaGame should describe the schedule and ecosystem themes without guessing the Pitch Stage winner or claiming unverified outcomes.
