Snapdragon Reality Elite Targets the Next Generation of XR
Qualcomm has introduced Snapdragon Reality Elite, a new computing platform designed for premium mixed-reality headsets and lightweight XR glasses.
The company says the chip can process up to 48 TOPS of on-device AI work and run large language and vision models directly on XR hardware. Qualcomm also claims improvements of up to 60 percent in GPU performance, 30 percent in CPU performance and 160 percent in NPU performance compared with its stated reference platform.
For display and tracking, Reality Elite supports visuals up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second, improved video passthrough, and enhanced head and hand tracking. Qualcomm says devices can deliver up to 20 percent longer battery life at the same workload and operate up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under sustained use.
These are manufacturer performance claims, not independent NairaGame benchmarks. Real results will depend on each headset's displays, battery, cooling, software and price.
XREAL AURA is expected to be the first announced product using Reality Elite, with Play for Dream also planning a future device. For Nigerian game cafes and XR developers, cooler operation and longer sessions could matter more than headline benchmark numbers. Hardware buyers should watch reliability, repair access, app compatibility and total landed cost.
