Player One Is Building Lagos Around Location-Based VR
Sponsor disclosure: Player One Game Cafe is a NairaGame sponsor. This article covers its publicly listed VR services and locations. Commercial relationships do not remove NairaGame's responsibility to label claims clearly and keep service details accurate.
Virtual reality can be difficult to access at home in Nigeria, where headset prices, import costs, space and maintenance create real barriers. Player One Game Cafe is approaching that problem as a location-based entertainment business: customers pay for a managed experience instead of buying and maintaining the full setup themselves.
Player One currently promotes VR experiences across Yaba, Surulere and Victoria Island. Its locations combine headset play with racing simulators, console gaming and group entertainment. The Surulere and Yaba operations extend the service beyond premium-island audiences, while the Victoria Island branch at Silverbird Galleria serves cinema visitors, tourists, creators, corporate teams and social groups.
The company's larger VR Arena offering is built for free-roam multiplayer sessions where players can move, cooperate and compete inside a managed play area. Player One also offers VR for team-building programmes, birthday parties, school visits, private events, brand activations and in-house competitive experiences.
That model matters for Nigerian XR growth. Location-based VR can introduce first-time users to headsets safely, generate work for attendants and technicians, and give developers or equipment brands a real audience for demonstrations and product testing. It also gives esports and event organisers a way to add immersive competition without purchasing a permanent fleet for every activation.
Player One describes its operation as a major provider of location-based VR arena services in Lagos. NairaGame has not independently measured every VR operator in Nigeria, so market-leadership claims should be understood as the sponsor's positioning rather than an audited industry ranking.
Players and organisers should confirm current game availability, age rules, session duration, group capacity and prices directly with the relevant branch before booking.
