MTN’s The Gathering on 100 Lands in Abuja on July 18
Abuja will host the next edition of The Gathering on 100, MTN Nigeria’s youth-culture experience, on Saturday, 18 July 2026.
The event is scheduled for This Day Dome, Kur Mohammed Avenue, Central Business District, Abuja, from 12 noon until 11:59 p.m. WAT. It brings the travelling platform to the Federal Capital Territory after editions in Lagos, Aba, Enugu and Kano.
Built around MTN’s Live It 100 campaign, The Gathering on 100 brings music, art, fashion, technology, entrepreneurship and interactive experiences into one youth-focused platform. For Abuja’s gaming community, the most interesting part is that gaming has been included throughout the movement’s earlier editions.
Gaming has been part of the experience from the start
The original Lagos edition ran for 100 hours at the National Stadium in Surulere. According to MTN Nigeria, it attracted more than 10,000 young people and featured gaming tournaments, five-a-side football, startup pitch competitions, rap battles, film screenings, fashion and music.
When the platform moved to Aba and Enugu, MTN said attendees participated in gaming activities alongside fashion showcases, beauty and creative experiences, skills-development sessions and entrepreneurial pitch competitions. Competition winners received cash prizes and other rewards.
That history makes the Abuja edition relevant to more than concertgoers. Gamers, content creators, game-centre operators, esports organisers and young gaming-business founders will have an opportunity to meet a wider community interested in technology, creativity and youth enterprise.
The organiser has not published a detailed Abuja gaming schedule identifying specific games, platforms, tournament formats or prize amounts. Attendees should rely on the official programme at the venue and avoid unofficial posts promising particular titles or rewards.
From Lagos to a growing national youth movement
The Gathering on 100 began with an ambitious format. Its Lagos launch combined competition, entertainment and opportunities for young businesses across four continuous days. Eight startups shared N45 million in support during the Lagos pitch programme, according to reporting published by the Nigeria Startup Act platform.
The regional editions adapted the format for their host cities. In Aba and Enugu, the emphasis remained on participation: young people could compete, showcase their ideas, build skills and connect with others working across culture and enterprise.
The Kano edition, held on 11 July, continued that approach with startup grants, creative exhibitions, technology showcases and recreational games. Abuja now becomes the next stop, extending the movement into one of Nigeria’s strongest technology, creator and events markets.
Why it matters to Abuja gamers and gaming businesses
Nigeria’s gaming ecosystem grows wherever communities can meet in person. Events like The Gathering on 100 can help players discover local groups, give creators new stories and collaborators, and introduce gaming businesses to audiences beyond the usual esports crowd.
For Abuja game cafes and centres, this is also a visibility opportunity. Operators attending the event can connect with new players and invite them into existing local communities. Tournament organisers can meet potential partners and build interest around future FCT competitions.
Creators should arrive ready to document their experience responsibly, exchange contact details and follow up with the communities they meet. Sellers and gaming-service providers should also have clear links to their catalogues or NairaGame listings available to share.
