FIGN Sets Girls-Only Port Harcourt Esports Tournament for July 24

Female gamers in Port Harcourt will have a new competitive stage on Friday, July 24, as Females in Gaming Network hosts a three-title esports tournament at Renaissance Innovation Labs.

The free, in-person competition will feature Mortal Kombat 1, EA Sports FC 26 and Traka, with a combined prize pool of ₦200,000 shared across the three brackets. The organizer’s registration form also mentions a championship belt. The event begins at 8:00 AM WAT at 19B Ada George Road, Mgbuoba, Port Harcourt.

FIGN says participants may register for one game or enter multiple brackets. The event has a total capacity of 200 competitors, and registration will close once all available spaces are taken. Players should register early through the official form rather than relying on unofficial links.

A dedicated stage for female competitors

The tournament gives female players an opportunity to test their skills across fighting games, football simulation and Traka, a competitive title developed with African players in mind. It also adds to a growing calendar of women-focused gaming and technology activities in Port Harcourt.

FIGN describes itself as a pan-African network supporting women and girls across esports, content creation, game development, commentary, voiceover, cosplay, storytelling and community operations. The organization says its activities have reached more than 640 attendees and partners across several African countries since its 2025 launch.

The network has previously worked on esports education sessions and a digital-safety competition addressing gender-based violence. That earlier project brought together students for Mario Kart, EA Sports FC, e-Scrabble and Just Dance activities while opening a wider discussion about safer online spaces for girls.

Who is supporting the event?

For the July 24 tournament, FIGN lists Kon10dr, Women in Innovation and Tech Initiative, Renaissance Innovation Labs and Esports Africa News among the supporting organizations. Renaissance Innovation Labs will serve as the host venue.

FIGN has not published the exact prize allocation, platforms or match formats for each bracket on its public event page. Competitors should confirm those details directly with the organizer before arrival.
