Women Game Jam Nigeria Opens a Free Online Route Into Game Development

Registration for Women Game Jam Nigeria closes on 9 October 2026, ahead of the free online jam on 16–18 October. The official registration form does not state a closing hour.

Women Game Jam Nigeria is inviting women and gender-diverse creators to build a game online from 16 to 18 October 2026, with no previous development experience required.

The Nigerian site is part of the tenth international edition of Women Game Jam, a 48-hour, non-competitive programme built around learning, collaboration and making a playable project from a shared theme. The organisers say programmers, artists, writers, designers and first-time participants can join.

What Nigerian participants should know

The 2026 jam will run fully online through the Women Game Jam community. The theme will be revealed when the programme begins, and teams will have two days to create either a digital or analogue game. Participants can continue updating their project pages until 20 October.

Nigeria's site is coordinated by Janet Ijeoma Ejegbu, who has published the local call for participants. Registration is free through the official Women Game Jam website; applicants should use the organiser's current registration page and community channels for final joining instructions.

Why it matters

For Nigerians trying to enter game development, a short jam provides a practical way to test a role, meet collaborators and finish a small project without first joining a studio. That experience can become a portfolio piece for a programmer, artist, writer, designer or producer.

The programme also gives Nigerian creators a route into an international peer network while keeping the work accessible from home. The useful next step is simple: register, choose the role you want to practise and prepare the tools you will need before 16 October.
