Port Harcourt's Festival of Fighters Put ₦300,000 Behind Mortal Kombat 1
Port Harcourt's fighting-game community completed the second Festival of Fighters programme on 26 September, with Mortal Kombat 1 players competing around a published ₦300,000 prize pool.
Daimyo Arena organised the tournament with Nerdwork, while Females in Gaming Network, Totem and Nexal Gaming supported the programme. The first stage took place on 19 September at Daimyo's Hub in Uniport Mall, before the grand finals moved into Nerdwork Comic Con on 26 September.
The result still needs an official record
The organisers' public event page confirms the dates, venue, game and prize pool, but it does not name the champion, publish the bracket or explain the final prize split. NairaGame is therefore reporting the verified competition structure without assigning an unconfirmed winner.
That missing result matters. Publishing brackets, placements and payouts helps players build credible records, gives sponsors measurable evidence and allows Port Harcourt's scene to be seen outside the city. The next useful update should be an official champion announcement with final standings.
Why this matters for Nigeria
The event shows organised fighting-game activity growing beyond Lagos. It links a local gaming hub, a comic convention and Nigerian community organisations around one competitive title, giving players in the Garden City a visible route from local play to a staged final.
