League of Legends World Championship 2026: Worlds Returns to the United States
The global League of Legends esports calendar is heading toward one of its biggest annual events as the League of Legends World Championship 2026 prepares to return to the United States. Running from October 15 to November 14, 2026, Worlds will bring the world's leading League of Legends teams together for a month of international competition across three major American destinations.
Officially organized by Riot Games, the 2026 championship will feature 19 teams from around the world, competing for the title of World Champion. The tournament will travel through Los Angeles, Allen, Texas, and Brooklyn, New York, giving fans across different parts of the United States an opportunity to experience the competition live.
A Three-City Worlds Experience
Worlds 2026 will begin in Los Angeles, where the Play-In Stage will take place at the Riot Games Arena from October 15–18. The Play-In will feature four teams competing in a double-elimination best-of-five bracket, with one team advancing to the Swiss Stage.
The tournament will then move to Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas. The Credit Union of Texas Event Center will host the Swiss Stage from October 23–26 and October 28–31, followed by the Knockout Stage from November 3–8.
The Knockout Stage will include the Quarterfinals from November 3–6 and Semifinals on November 7–8, setting the stage for the final battle for the championship.
19 Teams Fighting for the Title
One of the major changes for the 2026 edition is the expanded field. Worlds will feature 19 teams, with three representatives each from the LCK, LCS, LCP, LEC and LPL, giving those five regions 15 places collectively.
CBLOL will receive two slots, while the remaining two places will go to the MSI Champion and an additional team from the second-place region at MSI. Riot Games notes that the MSI Champion must still qualify for its home region's playoffs to retain its Worlds invitation.
This structure gives the championship a broad international representation while also placing additional importance on regional performance throughout the season.
Brooklyn to Host the Grand Final
After weeks of competition across the United States, Worlds 2026 will conclude in Brooklyn, New York, on November 14.
The Grand Final will be held at Barclays Center, one of New York City's major sporting and entertainment venues. The venue will provide the setting for the final best-of-five series and the crowning of the 2026 League of Legends World Champion.
The decision to stage the final in Brooklyn also gives Worlds a landmark destination for the climax of the tournament, bringing the international League of Legends community together for the final showdown.
A Tournament Built Across America
Unlike a championship concentrated in one city, Worlds 2026 will create a journey across three locations. Fans following the tournament will first see the Play-In competition in Los Angeles, before the main stages move to Texas and ultimately New York for the Grand Final.
The multi-city structure also reflects the scale of modern League of Legends esports, where regional leagues feed into a global championship watched by fans around the world.
For viewers outside the United States, including League of Legends fans in Nigeria and across Africa, the tournament will provide another opportunity to follow the world's highest level of competitive League of Legends through the official LoL Esports broadcast platforms.
The Road to Worlds
Worlds represents the culmination of the 2026 League of Legends competitive season. Before teams reach the United States, they must navigate their respective regional competitions and earn qualification through their domestic or regional performance.
The official LoL Esports schedule currently lists Worlds from October 15 through November 14, following the conclusion of the year's regional splits and international competition.
With qualification races continuing across the major regions, the final Worlds lineup will become clearer as the season progresses.
The 2026 League of Legends World Championship promises to turn the United States into the center of the competitive League of Legends world for an entire month. From the opening Play-In matches in Los Angeles to the final series at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the championship will combine international competition, regional rivalries and the biggest stage in the League of Legends esports calendar.
