2XKO Will End Active Development in December; Refunds and Final Events Explained
Riot Games will end active development of 2XKO in December 2026 after the free-to-play fighting game failed to retain enough players for a sustainable live service.
The game is not shutting down. Riot says servers will remain online, offline play is unaffected and the game will stay downloadable on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Purchases made on or before 20 August are being refunded, with platform providers handling console refunds.
Patch 1.3.1 on 8 September will unlock all champions, remove Ranked, battle passes and seasonal events, and move online players into skill-matched casual lobbies. Samira arrives in October as the final champion. Riot will still support 2026 Competitive Series prizes, with the final supported event planned for November.
For Nigerian players and tournament organisers, the key point is that 2XKO can continue as a community-run title, but its official competitive and content pipeline is winding down.
